Faydedar [noun]: A raid encounter dragon who is rarely reported swimming the vast waters of Timorous Deep. A member of the Ring of Scale faction; it’s sworn enemies include the League of Antonican Bards, Mayong Mistmoore and Venril Sathir. Known for it’s dense rows of sharp teeth on both upper and bottom jaws, a fearsome dragon’s roar, and fiery wide-spread lava breath, Faydedar is usually only hunted by the Iksar Master who makes the sighting of this short-lived beast extremely scarce.
Rumor on Al’Kabor was the wild Faydedar does exist and can be killed if a raid force was organized and ready during his ephemeral lifespan. After killing the spawned version for numerous Druid epics, we were curious if we could one day kill the real thing. The tricky part of this raid has always been it’s random spawn time and the small window of opportunity, as short as a few minutes to maybe an hour, since the Iksar Master npc usually wipes him out before anyone spots the wild Faydedar in Timorous Deep.
What started as a night of mischievous agendas, turned into a call of arms once a real sighting was reported by one of our members, Dogfish. Everybody who was logged in already raced to the Oasis docks to ride over to Timorous Deep as our ranger, Shlomo and suicidal wizard, Dimitre were the first on the scene to kite it around the zone while everyone mobilized. Once the majority of the raid force got to the chessboard isle, we began buffing and preparing for the upcoming battle.
However, during the kiting and buffing, Faydedar noticed the threat that was amassing on the beach and turned his attention towards them, eventually wiping our entire raid force when we were not ready yet to engage. We fought back valiantly however and injured him to 40%. Those who lived through the massacre stayed to kite him for a few more minutes as we quickly re-mobilized back to the beach, began ressing and buffing again for our chance at this rare spawn.
The second time around, we pulled him in, prepared and on our terms and easily killing him Vintage-style. The pics (provided by Shlomo) and video (provided by Dimitre) shows how the battle went. The loot wasn’t great, however we were surprised to see the Pod of Seawater he dropped.
Congratulations, Vintage on knocking out another memorable Kunark target from our guild progression list and possibly the first of many fishing trips we take together in the Timorous Deep!
